Terraria’s Crossplay Phase One update, version 1.4.6, is getting its finishing touches and should reach players “in the near future,” Re-Logic said on September 24, 2026 in its September State of the Game. The studio gave no date, but said it will announce the moment the build is submitted to platform holders, and hinted at “a little something for everyone” between Phase One and Phase Two.
What the September Update Says
Terraria developers Re-Logic and DR Studios, which handles the console and mobile versions, are now writing one combined development update instead of separate PC and console sections. Their reason is that console and mobile are no longer months behind PC: every platform is on the same version, which is what makes simultaneous crossplay releases possible. The team is also finishing “a handful of lingering fixes” left over from hotfix 1.4.5.8.
The plan, in Re-Logic’s words, is “to try and get Phase Two in as soon as possible behind Phase One,” with an unnamed extra in between. The studio did not say what that is.
The post also covers:
- tModLoader. The modding team’s regular monthly update for 1.4.4 lands October 1 and is mostly bug fixes. The move to 1.4.5 “will take many months still,” so modded players stay on the older version for now.
- Travel. Part of the team went from Gamescom to TapTap Game Fest 2026 in Shanghai, the studio’s first formal fan event since 2011.
- Merchandise. Preorders for the 15th Anniversary Collector’s Edition have closed, but a small overrun may go on sale, which Re-Logic calls the last chance to buy one.
What Phase One and Phase Two Mean
DR Studios laid out the split in February. Phase One brings consoles the crossplay PC, mobile and dedicated servers already share: joining sessions on your local network, and connecting over the internet by typing in a host’s IP address and port. Phase Two is the version most players are waiting for: share a join code with anyone, on any platform and any network, with no router setup.
What This Means for Players
If you play on console with friends on PC or phone, Phase One is the first time you can share a world with them, but only easily on the same home network. Across different houses, expect port setup until Phase Two. Modded players should expect a wait of many months, by the tModLoader team’s own estimate, before mods catch up to 1.4.5.
