Xbox is adding Mythic Achievements, a new badge for completing every original achievement in a game, and Xbox Insiders can try them starting September 29, 2026, per Xbox Wire. They also apply to games you finished in the past, going all the way back to Xbox 360.
How Mythic Achievements Work
From the Xbox Wire post:
- You earn one “when you complete all original achievements for a game.”
- DLC doesn’t count against you. “Achievements added later through DLC or updates aren’t required, and once you’ve earned Mythic status, it’s yours to keep.”
- It’s retroactive. “Mythic Achievements have already been added to eligible games you completed in the past, including XBOX 360 titles.”
The Other Changes
The update also adds:
- A Gaming tab on your profile, showing your achievements, your next Gamerscore milestone badge and the games you have completed. Mythic Achievements get “a heroic frame” in your history, and you can view friends’ Gaming tabs too.
- A progress bar at the top of each game’s achievement list, showing how close you are to Mythic status, with an option to focus on just the original achievements you still need.
- An “add-on” tag on achievements that arrived later through DLC or updates, so it’s clear which ones Mythic status doesn’t need.
What Xbox Hasn’t Said Yet
The post doesn’t say which Insider rings get the feature first, whether it’s console-only during testing, or when it reaches everyone. It also doesn’t say whether Mythic Achievements carry any Gamerscore. We’ll update when Xbox does.
What This Means for Players
The DLC rule is the big one. Until now, a game’s add-on achievements could stop you from ever showing it as complete; Mythic status ignores them. When and Where
Mythic Achievements are available now to Xbox Insiders. Anyone can join the Xbox Insider Program for free. A wider release date hasn’t been announced.
