Yes. DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered launches on PlayStation 5 and on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store on November 10, 2026, the same day as Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, so it is not an Xbox exclusive. Aspyr Media named all five platforms in its October 20 announcement, and the PS5 and PC versions are up for pre-order now.
Below we explain why it first looked like an Xbox-only release, what each version offers, which platforms are left out, and where crossplay stands.
Why It Looked Like an Xbox Exclusive
The game’s first public appearance was an Xbox store page that went up early, on October 16, 2026. As our story on that listing reported, it named only Xbox Series X|S and gave no price or date, which is where the “Xbox only” searches started.
Four days later, Aspyr revealed the game during the ID@Xbox Showcase, an Xbox broadcast (our showcase recap has the rest of the reveals), and Xbox Wire’s write-up of the show only mentions the Xbox version. But Aspyr’s own press release the same day says the game “will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on November 10, 2026.” There is no timed exclusivity: every version shares the same date, which our release date story covered.
Every Platform at a Glance
| Platform | Where to buy | What the listing says |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | PlayStation Store | PS5 version only, 1 to 4 players, PS Plus required for online play |
| PC | Steam and Epic Games Store | Windows only, full controller support, online and split screen co-op |
| Xbox Series X and Series S | Xbox store | Current consoles only, local and online co-op for 2 to 4 |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Nintendo eShop | Its own listing, online co-op, GameShare with local users |
| Nintendo Switch | Nintendo eShop | Its own listing, online co-op |
All five cost $29.99, or $26.99 as a digital pre-order. Our release time guide has the unlock time in every region and the pre-order window on each store.
The PS5 Version
The PlayStation Store page is live with pre-orders, and it lists the game as a PS5 release only. What it says:
- Players: 1 to 4, with “Online play optional.”
- Online: “PS Plus required for online play” and “Supports up to 4 online players with PS Plus.” Solo play and couch co-op on one console do not need it.
- Controller: vibration supported on the DualSense wireless controller.
- Price: $29.99, or $26.99 for PlayStation Plus members who pre-order. Aspyr’s announcement says the PS5 pre-order discount requires PS Plus, unlike the other platforms.
Aspyr’s announcement says 4K resolution is available on PS5, along with PC, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 in docked mode.
The PC Version
On PC, Shrek 2 Remastered is sold on Steam and the Epic Games Store, both from Aspyr. The Steam page lists single-player, online co-op, shared and split screen co-op, Steam Achievements, Family Sharing, full controller support and Remote Play Together, which lets friends join a local co-op session over the internet through Steam. Steam also tags it “Gamepad Recommended,” so plan on a controller for each player.
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel i5-10400 or Ryzen 5 3600 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel Core i5-10400 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA 1060 or AMD RX 570 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 15 GB | 15 GB |
The PC version is only on Steam and Epic. The Xbox store listing is for Xbox Series X|S consoles, and Xbox Wire names only those consoles, so there is no Xbox app or Microsoft Store version for PC and no Xbox Play Anywhere purchase that covers both.
Platforms It Is Not On
- PS4: the PlayStation Store lists the PS5 version only, and Aspyr has not announced a PS4 release.
- Xbox One: the Xbox listing is for Xbox Series X|S only.
- Mac and Linux: Steam lists Windows only.
- Steam Deck: Valve has not rated it yet as of November 3, 2026, so the Deck status is still unknown. The PC requirements are modest, but that is not the same as a Verified rating.
- Phones and tablets: Aspyr has not announced a mobile version.
- Game Pass and PS Plus: it is not part of either catalog. Xbox Wire says Game Pass members get up to 20% off the Xbox pre-order instead.
The 2004 original was a PS2, Xbox and GameCube game, so PlayStation players are getting it back rather than missing out.
Does It Have Crossplay?
Aspyr has not announced crossplay. Its announcement describes solo play, four-player couch co-op, online multiplayer and mixed online and couch co-op, but says nothing about playing across platforms, and none of the current store listings mention cross-platform play. Until Aspyr says otherwise, plan on online co-op with friends who own the game on the same platform as you, or use couch co-op, which works on every version.
Which Version Should You Get?
For a family couch session, any console works, since all five versions support four players on one screen. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players need a paid online membership only for online co-op. On PC, Steam’s Remote Play Together is the easiest way to bring a remote friend into a local game, and a controller for each player is the way to go. On Nintendo, the Switch 2 version gets 4K in docked mode per Aspyr and lists GameShare with local users, while the Switch version is a separate purchase on the eShop.
