Silent Hill: Townfall has a small roster of monsters and very few traditional boss fights. Reviewers describe only a handful of regular enemy types, plus a recurring, unkillable stalker that kills on contact and a final boss at the end of the story. Most of the game’s danger comes from stealth encounters rather than arena battles.
This guide stays spoiler-light: no plot reveals, and no names beyond the one reviewers have already made public.
The Regular Monsters
Konami’s launch trailer promised “new monsters,” and reviews describe them in consistent terms:
- Skinless creatures that stalk the town streets, the first thing most players hide from. GamesRadar+ describes “skinned-flesh things skipping along the cobbles.”
- Faceless, bound figures, which PC Gamer describes, including ones that fire needles from their abdomens.
- Ranged attackers. Siliconera notes that some enemies attack from a distance while others need to close in.
- Enemies the CRTV cannot see. Later in the game, Worthplaying reports, some monsters do not show up on the TV at all, which breaks the rule you have relied on up to that point.
Variety is the most common criticism. Push Square said it could count the enemy types on one hand, and Worthplaying said only one of them meaningfully changes how you play. The upside is that once you learn an enemy, that knowledge holds.
The Stalker You Cannot Kill
The enemy reviewers bring up most is a recurring pursuer that cannot be fought off. GameGrin names it the Weight and calls it the game’s Pyramid Head stand-in. Across reviews, the same traits come up:
- It cannot be killed. Tom’s Guide describes it appearing at specific moments and leaving you no option but to hide.
- It kills instantly if it catches you.
- It seems to know roughly where you are, according to several reviewers, and tends to patrol right outside your hiding spot.
- Distractions work. Worthplaying notes you can throw a brick or use a flare to move it, at the cost of resources.
GamesRadar+ called these sections the main reason the game just missed a perfect score, so expect them to be the hardest stretch of a first run. Knowing the layout helps, and our map guide shows how to read Simon’s notes for routes you have not tried.
Is Pyramid Head in Townfall? Not as himself, as far as launch reviews report. The Weight fills a similar role, but none of the reviews we read describe the series’ famous executioner returning.
Boss Fights
Townfall is light on conventional bosses. Walkthroughs confirm a final boss that you fight after the last main puzzle, and defeating it leads into the ending. Worthplaying wrote that the boss fight “feels as though it wandered in from another game,” and several reviewers mention a late, unusually action-heavy sequence that hands you a shotgun and plenty of ammunition.
Beyond that, the big set pieces are mostly stealth or escape encounters rather than health-bar fights. Some video compilations label other late encounters as bosses, but reviews do not treat them as traditional fights, so we are not listing names here.
How to Survive Townfall’s Monsters
- Tune the CRTV constantly. It shows one monster per frequency, so flick between signals to find everything nearby. Our CRTV guide explains the tuning.
- Avoid gunfire in crowded areas. GamesRadar+ and GameGrin both note that shooting draws other monsters.
- Budget ammo for emergencies. Worthplaying estimates around 40 pistol rounds across the whole game, with a pistol usually needing two or three shots per monster.
- Carry a spare melee weapon. Planks and pipes break, though New Game Plus adds an axe that reportedly never does. Our combat and weapons guide covers blocking and durability.
- Keep an IV bag. It revives you once, which is a lifeline in the stalker sections.
- Save before big encounters. Phones are your save points; see our saving guide.
If a stealth section is wearing you down, you can drop combat difficulty to Story at any time without penalty; the difficulty guide explains the options. How aggressively you deal with monsters is also one of the things the game tracks for its endings.
