The final boss in Silent Hill: Townfall is a three-phase fight in which you wear the boss down with gunfire, then interact with it when it kneels, three times over. Walkthroughs describe the loop the same way: stun it with the Flare Gun, unload the Shotgun and Pistol, back off to reload, and repeat. The arena is stocked with ammo and healing, so the fight is more about spacing than scarcity.
It is also the game’s only true boss fight. PowerPyx, GameRant and Into Indie Games agree that everything else is either a regular enemy or a stealth sequence. The first half of this guide is spoiler-free; the boss’s identity and the phase details sit behind a warning.
What to Bring
The fight comes near the very end of the game, after the last puzzle. Prepare during the chapters before it:
- Flare Gun and cartridges. Walkthroughs report a flare stuns the boss long enough for free shots. The Flare Gun is missable, so check our weapons guide if you do not have it.
- Shotgun shells. The double-barrel is your biggest damage per shot.
- Pistol rounds to fill the gaps while the shotgun reloads.
- Healing. Sterilized Gauze and First Aid Kits heal more than plain Gauze. An equipped IV bag revives you once, though each revive lowers your ending score, as our ending requirements guide explains.
Into Indie Games and other walkthroughs report “tons of bullets and heals” around the arena, so do not panic if you arrive low. Still, save a phone call first: dial 100 at the last working phone (our saving guide explains).
Difficulty and Retries
If the fight is walling you, you can drop combat difficulty to Story at any time without penalty; no ending or trophy is tied to difficulty. Our difficulty guide explains the options. On Nightmare, GameRant notes enemies can see your flashlight, which makes the fight noticeably harder.
Spoiler warning: everything below names the final boss and describes the fight. It does not reveal story events or the ending.
Who the Final Boss Is
The final boss is the Weight, the huge, unkillable stalker that hunts you through earlier chapters. The boss chapter is literally titled “Eraser,” and beating it unlocks the trophy of the same name: “Eraser: Defeat the Weight.” Until this point, GameRant confirms the Weight cannot be killed and a grab kills instantly; our bosses and monsters guide covers surviving those stalker sections.
The fight takes place outside CEG HQ, after you leave through the ground-floor elevators, per Into Indie Games.
Phase-by-Phase Strategy
Walkthroughs describe three phases. After each, the Weight kneels and you pull one of three metal bars out of it; pull all three and the fight ends. The phase structure comes mainly from lower-tier walkthroughs and is consistent with Into Indie Games’ description of the attack-then-interact loop.
Phase 1 and 2: close range only. The Weight lunges into a grab. Keep your distance, circle, and punish after a missed lunge.
- Fire a flare to stun it.
- Fire both shotgun barrels while it is stunned.
- Empty the Pistol as it recovers.
- Back away and reload before it closes in.
- When it kneels, interact to pull a bar.
Phase 3: adds a ranged attack. Walkthroughs describe an IV-line whip that reaches across the arena. Use walls and cover to break line of sight, and lean out to fire, rather than standing in the open.
Extra enemies. Walkthroughs report more monsters joining as the Weight takes damage. Either kite them away from the boss or clear them quickly with the Pistol, and keep the shotgun for the Weight itself.
If You Keep Dying
- The grab is the killer. Distance beats damage. If you are losing, stop shooting and reset your spacing.
- Reload behind cover. Reloading in the open during Phase 3 is the most common way to get caught by the whip.
- Heal after breaking line of sight. Healing plays an animation that leaves you exposed.
- Use the ammo on the ground. Pick up supplies between phases rather than hoarding.
After the fight, the game moves into a short epilogue chapter. In New Game Plus, one of the secret endings skips this fight entirely; the spoiler section of our ending requirements guide explains which. For everything else, see the Silent Hill guides hub.
