If Transport Fever 3 won’t start or crashes on PC, first check that your CPU supports AVX2, which the game requires. - Verify the game files in your launcher.
- Disable mods and overlays (such as recording or chat overlays).
Black Screen or Freeze on Startup
- Black screen: press Alt+Enter to switch between fullscreen and windowed.
- Freeze on startup: update your graphics driver, and force the game onto your dedicated GPU under Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
- The window opens on another monitor: press Win+Shift+Left or Right to move it.
Crashes While Loading or Playing
- Shader crashes: delete the shader_cache folder and let the game rebuild it.
- Broken settings: delete settings.lua to reset your settings to default.
- Crash logs: saved in the crash_dump folder, which is what to attach if you contact Urban Games support.
- “Out of device memory” while loading shaders: some players report this crash; Urban Games hasn’t posted a specific fix yet, so start with the driver and shader cache steps above.

Stuttering and Low FPS
Stutter is the most common complaint in early Steam reviews, including on high-end cards. Urban Games’ page explains how to tell what’s holding you back:
- Low FPS even while paused: your graphics card is the limit. Lower the graphics settings, the resolution scale, or play at 1080p.
- 2x or 4x speed doesn’t speed the game up: your CPU is the limit, which bigger maps and busier networks make worse.
Urban Games has said “The game does not make use of frame generation technologies”, so there’s no DLSS or FSR frame generation option to switch on.
Linux, Mac and Steam Deck
- Linux: don’t use the old Transport Fever 2 libstdc++ workarounds; Urban Games says they aren’t needed.
- Mac: Apple silicon only.
- Steam Deck: Valve hasn’t rated it yet. One player reports around 30 FPS on an OLED Deck at the lowest settings and 50% resolution.
Known Issues on PS5 and Xbox
- Controller softlock: opening an empty construction menu, such as the plane menu before 1920, can freeze the controls. Save and reload to get out of it.
- Xbox storage message: Xbox may say it’s “out of space for saved data” before the 2 GB save quota is actually full.
- Mod Hub saves: PC savegames uploaded to the Mod Hub can’t be downloaded on consoles yet.
Other Problems
- Greyed-out menu buttons: check your platform account and internet connection.
- Lost campaign progress: the manual offers downloadable replacement profile files.
