The Midnight Edition of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse costs $39.99, $10 more than the $29.99 Standard Edition, and adds a Digital Sound and Art Gallery app, two costumes for Rose (the Trevor Style and Sypha Style costumes) and a relic called Family’s Grace. It is also the only edition sold as a physical copy: the Standard Edition is digital only. Everyone who pre-orders or buys early, on either edition, also gets the Alucard Style Costume.
For most players who buy digitally, the Standard Edition is the one to get, because the main game is identical in both. Below is exactly what each edition of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse contains, per Konami’s product page and the store listings, plus the physical extras and who should pay the extra $10.

The digital prices are the same on Steam, the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store and the Nintendo eShop in the US. Konami lists no early access, extra areas or extra story in either edition, so everyone starts on the same day with the same game.
What the Midnight Edition Adds
Digital Sound and Art Gallery. A separate application from the main game, per Konami. It holds over 100 pieces of artwork, including concept art and sketches from production, and an in-app player for the game’s music. Konami’s track list runs to 71 entries, from “Bloodbound” to an extended “Curse Broken,” and includes “Bloody Tears,” the series classic that also gave Konami’s September trailer its name. On Switch, the eShop sells the Midnight Edition as a bundle of the main game, a Bonus Contents Pack and the Sound and Art Gallery app.
Trevor Style Costume and Sypha Style Costume. Konami describes these as alternate costumes for Rose Belmont, styled after her father, Trevor Belmont, and her late mother, Sypha Belnades. They change Rose’s look; they do not make Trevor or Sypha playable.
Family’s Grace (relic). Relics are equipment that trigger effects on offense and defense, and Rose can equip up to three at a time, according to the PlayStation Blog’s hands-on report. Konami has not detailed what Family’s Grace does, so do not buy the Midnight Edition expecting a specific gameplay advantage.
The Pre-Order Bonus: Alucard Style Costume
Konami calls this an early purchase bonus and pre-order bonus, and it comes with any edition, Standard included, on every platform. It dresses Rose in an outfit inspired by Alucard, Dracula’s son and Trevor’s ally from Castlevania III.
Two caveats. On physical copies, Konami says the costume requires an additional download from the online store, so a boxed copy needs to go online once to claim it. And Konami has not published an end date for the early purchase window, so if you want the costume, buying in launch week is the safe move.
Physical Copies, the SteelBook and the Tarot Card
The physical release is the Midnight Edition only, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. In the US, Konami’s product page points to Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, Walmart and Target for all three consoles. There is no physical PC version.
The extras depend on where you buy:
- Europe, the Middle East and Africa: pre-ordering or buying the physical Midnight Edition early at select retailers includes an exclusive Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse SteelBook, according to Konami’s June 8 announcement. Select retailers in the same region also offer a premium tarot card of Rose Belmont with exclusive art by Katsuya Terada, the illustrator behind the game’s key art. Konami says stock varies by store.
- North America: Konami’s US product page lists no SteelBook or tarot card, so check the retailer’s own listing before ordering for one.
- Japan: Konami’s Japanese site lists store-specific bonuses, such as cloth posters and acrylic stands, that vary by retailer.
There is no collector’s edition. Konami has announced only the Standard and Midnight editions.
Can You Upgrade From Standard to Midnight
Not as a separate purchase, as of October 12. Steam sells only the two editions, the PlayStation Store lists no upgrade, and the Nintendo eShop shows the Bonus Contents Pack and the gallery app as parts of the Midnight bundle that cannot be bought on their own. Decide before you buy: if you think you will want the art gallery or the costumes later, the Midnight Edition is the only way to get them right now.
Whichever edition you pick, your progress from the free demo transfers to the full game, as long as both are on the same platform and account.
Which Edition You Should Buy
- Buy the Standard Edition if you are buying digitally and want the game. The whole game (the story, the map, the bosses and the weapons) is in it, and so is the pre-order Alucard costume.
- Buy the Midnight Edition if you want a physical copy (it is the only boxed option), if you want the soundtrack and art gallery, or if the Trevor and Sypha costumes appeal to you. The $10 gap is small next to most deluxe editions.
- In Europe, buy the physical Midnight Edition from a retailer offering the SteelBook if you collect them.
Platform choice matters more than edition choice for how the game runs: Konami lists 60 fps on PS5, Xbox and PC and 30 fps on Switch. Our guide to Belmont’s Curse on Switch 2 covers the Nintendo side, and our release time guide has the unlock time for every store.
