Analogue announced the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ on October 16, 2026: refreshed versions of its FPGA-based Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis consoles that add Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless controller support, USB-C power and hot-swappable cartridges. Each costs $219.99, pre-orders open October 19 at 8 AM Pacific (11 AM Eastern), and both ship in December 2026, per Analogue’s announcement on X and its product pages.
The Details
Like the originals (Super Nt from 2017, Mega Sg first announced in 2018), both play original cartridges on an Altera Cyclone V FPGA rather than through software emulation, output up to 1080p over HDMI, and run cartridges from any region. What is new, per the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ pages:
- Wireless built in. Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz support with a pairing button, for “virtually any 8BitDo controller” and other modern pads, up to two at once.
- USB-C power and a USB-A port. A 30W GaN power supply is in the box. The USB-A port is only for Analogue’s DAC or charging controllers.
- Hot-swappable cartridges. Quit the game from the menu and swap carts without powering down.
- Power from the controller. Turn the system on or off by pressing Start on player one, or by switching on a paired pad.
- New shell and packaging. Analogue calls the design “refined A to Z.”
Super Nt+ comes in Classic, SF and Black; Mega Sg+ in USA, EU and JP versions. Mega Sg+ keeps its Sega CD connector (you still need an original Sega CD or Mega CD) and includes the Master System cartridge adapter. Both include two cartridge cleaners.
The fine print: no built-in games this time (the originals shipped with Super Turrican Director’s Cut and Ultracore), no openFPGA support, and none of the save states, screenshots or 4K display modes Analogue offers on products such as Analogue 3D. The 8BitDo SN30 and M30 controllers Analogue pairs them with cost $29.99 each, sold separately.
What This Means for Players
If you missed the originals, this is a chance to buy new instead of hunting for used units. If you own one, the core is the same: Analogue says every setting from the original returns, so the upgrade is convenience (wireless pads, USB-C, hot swapping) rather than accuracy or resolution.
Both consoles need real cartridges. For what to put in the slot, start with our 15 best SNES games of all time. If you would rather skip the cartridge hunt, Nintendo keeps adding to its Classics apps, most recently Metal Slug Advance and Kururin Paradise on the Game Boy Advance app, and Toy Story: Retro Roundup includes the Genesis and SNES versions of the original Toy Story on modern consoles.
