Aniimo is not a gacha game in the usual sense: there are no summon banners, and every Aniimo is caught, hatched or earned by playing rather than pulled from a paid draw. The game is free to play on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android, and it makes its money from a premium currency called Lumin Crystals, a Monthly Pass, a paid battle pass and cosmetics.
This guide covers the live game as of the version 1.1 update of September 23, 2026. It explains how you get creatures without paying, exactly what the stores sell, where random odds still exist, how the launch changed the beta’s most gacha-like system, and whether spending gives you an edge.
How You Get Aniimo Without Paying
Aniimo is a creature catcher first. Pawprint Studio’s store description spells it out: you catch Aniimo with Aniipods, set traps and time your throws, and different Aniimo appear depending on environment, weather, phenomena and time of day. Executive producer Jovi Zhang wrote on Xbox Wire that more than 200 Aniimo can be discovered and collected at launch.
Beyond catching, the developer’s launch announcement and the 1.1 patch notes list these free routes:
- A free Prismana Aniimo: reach the Wayfarer I title and pick one Aniimo in its rare Prismana Form.
- Free capture items: launch events hand out Sparkling Cubes, Aniipod Ultras and Tumblers.
- Eggs: cumulative logins earn a Random Perfect Aniimo Egg, and Home levels 15 and 18 each reward a Mysterious Prismana Egg.
- Legendary Aniimo: Irisalis is earned with Iris Petals from a weekly-limited source, not bought (more on that below).
- Outfits: four outfits come free from the story, Home activities and sign-ins.
- Pre-registration rewards: everyone gets the Sunlit Meadow outfit, an avatar frame, two Aniipod Ultras and 200 Glimmer.
What Costs Real Money
Everything paid runs through the in-game shop and the platform stores. These are the US listings as of September 28, 2026:

The PlayStation Store sells slightly larger Lumin Crystal packs at the same price points (66 up to 7,128). Lumin Crystals mostly buy cosmetics: the 1.1 notes list the Radiant Waveglow appearance set for 980 Lumin Crystals and the Laurel Moon Blessing pack, a furniture piece and two accessories, for 280, both under Shop, Featured.
Player reports on the Steam forums say Lumin Crystals can also buy capture items, and that the Monthly Pass and Companion Handbook add convenience perks and exclusive rewards. We have not matched the full shop list to an official source, so treat those details as provisional.
Where Random Odds Still Exist
No banners does not mean no luck. The PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and Google Play all carry the rating note “In-Game Purchases (Includes Random Items)”. Pawprint publishes its odds on an official Probability Details page, and it shows exactly where chance sits:
- Catching: base catch chance drops with area and evolution stage, from 56% for a first-stage Aniimo in early areas to 16% for a final-stage one in late-game areas, and just 6% for Alpha Aniimo. A basic Aniipod has a x1 multiplier, an Aniipod Pro x1.5, and the Aniipod Ultra and Sparkling Cube succeed every time.
- Sparkling Styles: a Sparkling Cube catch rolls the Common Sparkling Style 99% of the time and the Dazzling style 1%.
- Prismana spawns: each nurture that uses Vein Essence has a 3% chance to trigger a Prismana Flow directly, with a pity threshold of 10,500 Prismana.
- Alpha drops: held-item rarity from Alphas depends on your title rank.
What the page does not list is any summon or banner rate, which is where a gacha game has to disclose its odds.
How Launch Changed the Beta’s Legendary Hunt
The closest Aniimo came to a banner was in testing. In a September 3 letter, Pawprint admitted that catching Irisalis in earlier tests meant “stacking the entry cost and repeated throws on top of pure luck,” and outlets that covered the final beta described it as a banner in all but name.
At launch, the developer says, you collect legendary tokens through exploration and story, craft your own Legendary Aniipod, and trigger a one-time story encounter, a design it calls “the template for every Legendary Aniimo encounter to come.” The 1.1 update applies it: Iris Petals craft the Legendary Aniipod: Irisalis, and extra petals craft a Legendary Aniipod: Windchaser’s Departure, which guarantees a capture with Perfect Innate Potential in Sparkling Form.
The same letter flattened the chance of triggering Prismana Aniimo through nurturing (the guarantee stays), made Sparkling Cube catches always roll Perfect Potential, and raised wild spawn rates for high-Potential Aniimo.
Whether Spending Gives You an Edge
Pawprint’s Fair Play announcement bans third-party top-ups, account trading and selling in-game items for profit, so the only legitimate spending is through the official shop. The official store listings sell currency, passes and cosmetics rather than individual Aniimo, though player reports say a paid Companion Handbook track includes an exclusive Aniimo reward. Early player reports on the Steam forums describe clearing the current content without spending, while noting paying players progress faster.
