Rebel Wolves detailed Update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker on October 16, 2026, in an overview posted to the game’s official X account, and says the patch is “planned for next week.” The headline addition is the Draught of Mind Rebirth, the game’s first way to reset your abilities, alongside a reworked Story mode and what the studio calls “over 1100 other improvements and fixes.”
The Details
The four new features, in Rebel Wolves’ words:
- Draught of Mind Rebirth. “Forget all your Swordmastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism abilities, and use the time you spent learning them to master a different set of abilities.” The studio has not yet said how you get the draught or what it costs.
- Petting animals. “What happens when you merge a directional combat system with an ability to pet dogs and cats? Directional. Animal. Petting.”
- A new Story mode. You will “pick between the Forgiving game difficulty (previously called Story) and a new Story mode with additional combat assist.”
- More subtitle settings. A larger font size, and subtitles for all dialogue lines.
The listed changes and improvements:
- FrameGen, updated, with its own dedicated settings.
- Camera: adjusted animations and camera movements in combat.
- Combat: better targeting, locking onto enemies and disengaging from them.
- Traversal: more responsive targeting and surface attaching with Shadowstep and Planeshift.
- Japanese version: blood and gore will no longer be censored on Steam.
Rebel Wolves has not given an exact day. The post does not say whether the patch reaches every platform at once.
What This Means for Players
The draught is the biggest change for anyone mid-run. Until 1.1 lands, our respec guide still applies: every point you spend is permanent, so the planning in our best early skills and best perks guides still matters. The overview names only the three ability trees, so do not assume an Ultimate Perk lockout can be undone until the patch notes say so.
Difficulty grows from four settings to five. The mode you know as Story becomes Forgiving, and the new Story sits below it with extra combat help. Our difficulty guide explains the current four.
This is the patch game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz described in September, when he expected it in early October. The targeting and disengage fixes match what he promised then. The respec draught and animal petting are new. Everything else we cover is on the Dawnwalker hub, and our review has our full verdict.
