There are 21 Sprites in Fortnite Battle Royale as of September 28, 2026: 20 named in Epic’s Override patch notes and posts, plus the Morgana Sprite, which the community wiki records arriving on September 24. Epic has two more community-designed Sprites still to release this season, and each Sprite can also turn up in special variants, which pushes the collectible total far higher.
Below we list every current Sprite and what it does, explain the variants, name the Sprites still coming, and cover what happened to the older generations.
Which Season This Covers
This count covers Chapter 7 Season 4, Fortnite Override, as of the v42.20 update. Sprites are seasonal content that rotates: Override launched with a brand new generation and moved the Season 3 (Runners) Sprites to the Sprite Garden, so the number below is what you can actually find on the island today. Epic adds Sprites through the season, usually on Thursdays, so the total climbs until Override ends, which the community wiki lists as October 31, 2026. It is the same on every platform.

Special Variants: Why the Real Number Is Higher
On top of the 21 base Sprites, Override has four kinds of special variant. Epic named each as it arrived, and the community wiki describes their bonus effects:
- Gold: arrived with the first Power Hours on August 22. Bonus XP from eliminations.
- Cheat Master: every input counts as correct when you enter a Cheat Code.
- Hacker (Loot Hacker): added September 10. Raises the chance of your Loot Hack items spawning.
- Bounty Hunter: added September 24. Chance to find Sprites when eliminating opponents, and levels only from eliminations.
The wiki says every Override Sprite except Mega Man can come in these variants. Epic’s own mastery track points the same way: the v42.20 notes promise a new pixel style for mastering 70 Sprites, far more than the 21 base ones, which only adds up if variants count. So if you are asking how many Sprites there are to collect, the honest answer is 21 base Sprites and many more once variants are included.
Sprites Still to Come
Epic announced five Design-A-Sprite winners for Override. Three have arrived, and two are still due in a mid-season update: the Dumpster Dive Sprite and the Honey Sprite. Epic has also said Sprites from past generations may return down the line, and Fortnitemares starts October 1, so expect the list above to grow before the season ends.
Season 3 and Older Sprites
Season 3 (Runners) introduced the current extract-and-collect system with its own generation, which the community wiki counts at 25 Sprites, from the Rare Water, Earth and Fire Sprites up to the Mythic Zero Point Sprite. None of them spawn in Battle Royale now. Epic says they live on in the Sprite Garden, as styles for the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling and the Guardian outfit, and on your Sprite Collection page.
Sprites existed before that too. The wiki traces them to Chapter 6 Season 1, when a handful of Sprites roamed the island and some could be carried to Sprite Shrines for loot, with no permanent collection. Across Chapter 7’s two generations, the wiki’s lists add up to 46 base Sprites so far.
How to Check Which Sprites You Have
Your Sprite Collection page, in the Sprites section of the Battle Royale lobby, shows everything you have extracted, and Epic says Season 3 Sprites stay on it alongside the new generation. In a match, Epic’s v42.00 changes also show whether you already own a Sprite you find, and display its name when you get close, so you can skip duplicates when you are only hunting for new ones.
