Gears of War E-Day: How to Get Weapon Parts Fast

A Lancer rifle with its chainsaw bayonet lies in glowing red rubble in Gears of War: E-Day

The fastest way to get Weapon Parts in Gears of War: E-Day is to play Horde Siege missions on the highest difficulty your class can survive, take every secondary objective, Weapon Part Stockpile and Invasion Event you safely can, and always extract. Parts you collect during a mission are only kept if at least one player in your squad makes it onto the Raven, so a failed mission pays nothing.

Leveling a class also hands out a few parts, but The Coalition says plainly that missions are “the best way to earn Weapon Parts.” Below we cover every source, what changed at launch, how to stop losing parts, and whether there is a cap. Everything is verified against The Coalition’s multiplayer deep dive and official patch notes for Gears of War: E-Day, as of the November 6 patch.

What Weapon Parts Are For

Weapon Parts are Horde Siege’s upgrade currency. Each class unlocks Weapon Mods on its level track, and every mod must then be bought with Weapon Parts before you can equip it. Because weapon customization is shared across classes, parts spent on a Prototype Lancer for Assault also upgrade that Lancer when you play Medic, so nothing you buy is wasted if you switch class later.

The Campaign works differently. Its weapon mods come straight from secondary objectives and Hard Cases, so you do not farm Weapon Parts there. Our weapon mods guide explains the full mod system.

Every Way to Get Weapon Parts

Source How it pays Notes
Class level-ups A few parts as you level Slowest source
Secondary Objectives Weapon Parts, free equipment and Squad Perks Optional tasks on the map
Weapon Part Stockpiles “Various amounts” of parts Pay only when squads coordinate
Invasion Events A share of the rewards for every squad that joins Corpser, Brumak and other bosses
Higher difficulty “Increased rewards” across the mission Infantry, Commander, Allfather
Extraction Keeps everything above Fail and the mission’s parts are gone

Step-by-Step: How to Farm Weapon Parts

  1. Pick a difficulty you can finish. Horde Siege suggests a difficulty based on your class level. The Coalition recommends Infantry for class levels 10 to 20, Commander for 20 to 30 and Allfather for max-level classes. Harder missions pay more, but only if you extract.
  2. Grab secondary objectives early. They pay Weapon Parts, and Poisons make your squad’s Locust tougher after every main-objective boss wave you clear, so side jobs are cheapest before that.
  3. Work the Stockpiles with other squads. Weapon Part Stockpiles are a COG Resupply that “will reward various amounts of weapon parts, but only if you can coordinate with other squads.” Bring another squad rather than trying to claim one alone.
  4. Join Invasion Events. Any squad that helps takes a portion of the rewards. Against a Corpser, that means delivering Blast Charges into its hole; our Blast Charge guide walks through it.
  5. Extract. Clear the landing zone and get at least one squad member onto the Raven before it leaves. That single extraction banks the whole squad’s parts.

What Changed at Launch

The August beta paid better than the live game. The Coalition’s Season 1 launch post lists reduced Weapon Part rewards for taking part in Invasions and for Weapon Part Stockpiles, harder Invasions, harder Commander and Allfather difficulties, and higher equipment and Squad Perk costs.

The October patches then fixed things that cost players parts. The October 14 patch fixed Horde Siege missions that would not end if squad members left during extraction, plus a Corpser that could become unkillable during an Invasion Event. The October 22 hotfix fixed a bug that kicked everyone from a Horde server when one player failed to load in. If you lost a run to any of these, update and try again.

How to Stop Losing Weapon Parts

  • The careful player extracts. Only one squad member needs to board the Raven. If the squad is collapsing, the player with the most health should head for the landing zone instead of reviving.
  • Use other squads. Players from another squad can pick up your COG tags to revive you instantly, and the Medic’s Stim Vaporizer revives downed Gears from any squad. Our Horde Siege class guide covers which class keeps a squad alive.
  • Party up for hard runs. A full squad of friends who will stay to the end is the safest way through Commander and Allfather missions.
  • Mind the Invasion modifier. An active Invasion can block extraction or disable Supply Caches for every squad, so finish it or plan around it before your final objective.
  • Watch the clock. If you do not clear the area and board in time, the Raven leaves without you.

Is There a Weapon Parts Cap?

The Coalition has not announced a cap on Weapon Parts, either on how many you hold or how many you earn in a week. The one weekly cap in its multiplayer deep dive applies to Coins earned from match completion, the currency for cosmetics in the Barracks, and The Coalition says that cap is “more than enough to acquire a Legendary Character skin with Coins to spare.” Coins from medals and Player Level milestones fall outside it.

So if your Weapon Parts total seems stuck, check whether your last missions actually extracted before assuming you have hit a limit. Our multiplayer and Horde guide covers the rest of Horde Siege, and every guide is on our Gears of War: E-Day hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get Weapon Parts in Gears of War E-Day? From Horde Siege missions: secondary objectives, Weapon Part Stockpiles, Invasion Events and higher difficulties, plus a few from leveling your class. You keep a mission’s parts only if your squad extracts.

What is the best way to farm Weapon Parts? Play the hardest difficulty your class can reliably finish, take secondary objectives before Poisons stack up, coordinate on Stockpiles with other squads, and always get someone onto the Raven.

Do you lose Weapon Parts if you fail a mission? Yes. The parts collected during that mission are lost unless at least one squad member extracts.

Is there a cap on Weapon Parts? The Coalition has not announced one. The only weekly cap it has described applies to Coins from match completion.

Can you get Weapon Parts in the Campaign or Versus? The Coalition only lists Horde Siege sources: class levels and missions. Campaign mods come from secondary objectives and Hard Cases instead, and Versus has no weapon mods at all.
