You can move buildings in Pokemon Pokopia using a Relocation Kit, but there is one hard exception worth knowing before you build anything ambitious: houses you assembled block by block cannot be relocated at all. Only structures made from building kits can be packed up and moved.
The Exception That Will Hurt
Pokopia lets you construct houses in two ways. Building kits come in four sizes, den, hut, cottage and house, and produce a structure the game understands as a single object. Block-built houses are ones you put together yourself, piece by piece.
Kit buildings can be moved. Block-built ones have to be demolished and rebuilt by hand somewhere else.
So if you are planning an elaborate custom home and you are not yet certain where your town is going, that is the decision to think about now rather than forty hours in.
How to Relocate a Kit Building
- Buy a Relocation Kit and place it in front of the building you want to move.
- Assign Builder Pokemon to the job, meaning ones with the Build or Bulldoze specialties. Onix is the first Bulldoze Pokemon most players get; Timburr, Machoke and Cubone cover Build.
- Let them deconstruct and pack it, then collect the packed kit.
- Place and rebuild it wherever you want.
Two conditions must be met before it will move at all: the Ditto Flag must be removed first, and no Pokemon can be inside. If the option is refusing to appear, check both.
Claiming a House as Yours
A structure you build is unoccupied until someone claims it. To make one yours, place a Ditto Flag on, in or near it. The recipe comes from the Withered Wasteland main story and costs 1 sturdy stick, 1 twine and 1 leppa berry.
You can flag a house a Pokemon already lives in, so cohabiting is allowed. And a house needs at least three pieces of furniture before other Pokemon will consider moving in, which is the usual reason an empty-looking build stays empty.
Moving Pokemon, Not Just Buildings
Relocating a resident is a separate job. Build a suitable habitat in the destination biome matching that species’ Pokedex-listed preferences, ask the Pokemon to follow you, travel over, and invite it into the new home.
Pokemon can refuse, usually because the habitat is not to their liking or because they have an unfinished request tied to their current biome. Clear the request or fix the habitat first. Our humidity guide covers one of the conditions that most often needs fixing.
