Sims 2: How to Become a Vampire

To become a vampire in The Sims 2, build a high relationship with one of the Grand Vampires who stalk Downtown at night; once they like your Sim enough, there is a growing chance they perform the Bite Neck interaction, and the bite transmits vampirism instantly. It comes with the Nightlife expansion. Here is how to court the bite, live with it, and cure it.

Finding a Grand Vampire

Grand Vampires are unmistakable: greyish skin, red eyes, visible fangs, and a hunched walk with one arm dramatically shielding the face. They appear only at night, prowling Downtown community lots (with Nightlife installed, take a taxi Downtown after dark and haunt the clubs and lounges).

Getting Bitten

Unlike later games, there is no “Ask to Turn” button. The process:

  1. Socialize hard. Build both daily and lifetime relationship with a Grand Vampire through friendly interactions across nighttime outings.
  2. Stay close and keep interacting. At high relationship, the Grand Vampire has an increasing chance of autonomously choosing Bite Neck on your Sim.
  3. The bite converts immediately. Your Sim rises with pale skin, fangs, and the works. No waiting period, no symptoms phase.

Once turned, your own Sim can Bite Neck others, so one household vampire can convert the rest by invitation.

Living as a Vampire

Sunlight is the enemy: daytime outdoors drains motives at frightening speed, so sleep through the day (a coffin restores like a bed and fits the aesthetic) and do everything at night. The upside: vampires do not age while nocturnal habits are respected, making this the closest thing Sims 2 has to immortality.

The Cure: Vamprocillin-D

Call the Gypsy Matchmaker and buy Vamprocillin-D from her, then drink it: the Sim reverts to normal life, aging and all. Keep a bottle in inventory even if you love the fangs; accidents involving sunrise happen.

Tips Most Players Miss

  • Grand Vampires can be invited home once befriended, which makes the high-relationship grind (and the eventual bite) much easier to stage.
  • Vampire plus other states: Sims 2 allows some outrageous combinations with werewolves, PlantSims, and witches; hybrid households are a Sims 2 specialty.
  • Wolfsbane for the indecisive: the Matchmaker sells cures for most afflictions, so experimentation is reversible; the full cheat-assisted route is in all Sims 2 cheats.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can vampires have children? Yes, vampires can try for baby normally; the child is born human.

Do vampires age? Not while the state holds, which is the great draw; cure them and aging resumes.

Does this work in the Legacy Collection? Yes, the Legacy Collection includes Nightlife, and the Grand Vampires behave exactly as they did in 2005.
