Tales of Eternia Remastered is out now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, after the Steam version went live at 3:00 PM Pacific (6:00 PM Eastern) on October 15, 2026. Bandai Namco confirmed the launch in a day-one update notice and a “now available” post on Steam. It is the first remaster of the PlayStation original, which reached North America in 2001 as Tales of Destiny II.

The Details

Tales of Eternia Remastered is developed by TOSE and published by Bandai Namco. The Standard Edition costs $29.99 and the Deluxe Edition $49.99 on both Steam and Nintendo’s US eShop. The Deluxe adds three extras: a Battle BGM Pack that swaps in battle themes from earlier Tales games, a digital artbook and soundtrack with all 109 in-game tracks, and a Super Growth Support Item Set that boosts character stats.

The story and its 2D Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System are unchanged. What is new, per Bandai Namco’s announcement:

  • Graphics Mode and SFX Mode switch freely between remastered and original visuals and sound effects.
  • A Boost feature adjusts experience gained and how often enemies appear, and encounters can be switched off entirely.
  • Destination icons can be toggled, and auto battles get a high-speed mode.
  • Battle Retry and Quick Recovery are new.
  • Extreme difficulty is open from the start, and a new Unknown difficulty unlocks after you finish the game.

Every version launched with patch v.2.0.0. It adds a Font Style option (Japanese text only), carries Titles over into a second playthrough and fixes text bugs. Bandai Namco lists the download at about 7 GB on Switch 2 and Steam and 8 GB on Xbox, where the figure includes the full game, and about 300 MB on Switch, 500 MB on PS5 and 1.3 GB on PS4.

What This Means for Players

The remaster is built for people who bounced off old-school grinding: turn the encounter rate down, boost your experience and keep moving. Purists can flip the visuals and sound effects back to the PlayStation originals and play on Extreme from the first battle. On PC, the bar is low: Steam lists Windows 11, an Intel Core i3-8100 and a GTX 650 Ti for 1080p at 60fps on Low settings.

North American buyers can only get it digitally.
