The Witcher 3 Remastered’s minimum PC spec is an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, a GeForce GTX 1660, Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB or Intel Arc A580, 12 GB of RAM and 60 GB on an SSD, running Windows 11. That gets you 1080p at 30 FPS on Low. At the other end, path tracing at 4K needs a GeForce RTX 5080.
The requirements went up for the Remastered update, and hard drives are no longer supported. Here is CD Projekt Red’s full table, from its Remastered change list and support site.
The Full Requirements Table
| Tier | Target | CPU (Intel / AMD) | GPU (NVIDIA / AMD / Intel) | VRAM / RAM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Low, 1080p, 30 FPS | Core i5-8400 / Ryzen 5 2600 | GTX 1660 / RX 5500 XT 8 GB / Arc A580 | 6 GB / 12 GB |
| Recommended | High, 1080p, 60 FPS | Core i7-8700K / Ryzen 5 3600X | RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 XT / Arc B580 | 8 GB / 16 GB |
| Ultra | Ultra, 1440p, 60 FPS | Core i7-13700K / Ryzen 7 7700X | RTX 3070 Ti / RX 6800 XT / Arc B580 (with XeSS) | 8 GB / 24 GB |
| Ray tracing minimum | Ray tracing, 1080p with upscaling, 30 FPS | Core i7-11700K / Ryzen 7 5800X | RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 XT / Arc B580 | 8 GB / 16 GB |
| Ray tracing recommended | RT Ultra, 1440p with upscaling, 60 FPS | Core i7-13700K / Ryzen 7 7700X | RTX 4080 / RX 9070 XT | 12 GB / 24 GB |
| Path tracing | RT Ultra, 4K with DLSS and Frame Generation, 60 FPS | Core i9-13900K / Ryzen 7 9800X3D | RTX 5080 | 16 GB / 24 GB |
Every tier asks for 64-bit Windows 11 and 60 GB on an SSD. Upscaling is off unless the tier says otherwise, and CD Projekt Red notes a GTX 1660 “can achieve 60 FPS or higher”.
The Rules That Changed
- SSD required. Hard drives are no longer supported.
- DirectX 12 only.
- Windows 10 is no longer officially supported, though CDPR says that “doesn’t mean that the game will stop running”. Players on Steam report it running on Windows 10.
- Storage: 60 GB, or 95 GB on the Epic Games Store.
Drivers to Install
CD Projekt Red’s support team recommends these versions:
- NVIDIA: 617.14.
- AMD: Adrenalin 26.9.2, which AMD released on launch day with The Witcher 3 Remastered support. AMD players seeing visual glitches should install it; our launch-day story covers what happened.
- Intel: 32.0.101.8993.
Upscaling and Frame Generation
- FSR 4 works on Radeon RX 7000 cards and newer, with FSR 2 as the fallback on older ones.
- NVIDIA says path tracing on the Ultra+ preset turns on Ray Reconstruction automatically, and Multi Frame Generation goes up to 6X on RTX 50 cards.
If Your PC Falls Short
You can keep playing an older version. On Steam, go to Properties > Betas and pick CLASSIC for version 1.32; CDPR also lets Steam and GOG players roll back to 4.04, the last pre-Remastered build. Epic only offers the latest version. Our guide to fixing the upgrade not showing up covers the branch settings.
Steam Deck
Steam still shows the game as Verified for Steam Deck, but that rating dates from 2022, before the Remaster. Players report it plays well at 800p, but CD Projekt Red hasn’t published new Deck guidance for this version.
