No physical edition of The Witcher 3 Remastered has been announced. CD Projekt Red’s press releases, its buy page and the store listings only offer it digitally; on Switch 2 it’s sold as a digital Standard Edition at $59.99. But if you already own the game on disc or cartridge, you still get the Remastered version: CDPR’s change list says any version, “physical or digital”, is covered.
Here is how physical copies work on each platform.
If You Own a Disc or Cartridge
CD Projekt Red’s Remastered change list covers physical owners, and a CDPR statement given to Eurogamer said “all copies on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC will be upgraded for free.” So:
- PS5 disc: updates like any other copy.
- PS4 disc: you need a PS5 with a disc drive, with the disc inserted, to claim the PS5 version, and the disc’s region must match your account’s.
- Xbox Series X|S disc: updates like any other copy.
- Xbox One disc: works on an Xbox Series X, which has a disc drive, but not on a Series S.
- Switch 1 cartridge: owners can claim the Switch 2 version free.

The Existing Boxed Versions
A boxed Complete Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X came out in 2023 with both expansions. It’s the same game the Remastered update upgrades, so buying that box today still gets you the Remastered version once it updates. Check the region matches your account before buying an imported copy.
Switch 2
On Switch 2, the Remastered version is a digital Standard Edition at $59.99, and Switch 1 owners claim it free. There’s no Switch 2 cartridge announced. Our Switch 2 guide covers performance and controls.
Will There Be a Physical Remastered Edition Later
Nothing has been announced. CD Projekt Red’s next release is the paid Songs of the Past expansion, and it hasn’t mentioned a boxed version of that either.
