The Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon is in the ruined capital above Undercity in Tirisfal Glades, in World of Warcraft: Forever. Walk through the front gate of the ruined city and, before you reach the keep, look to your left: the entrance is up a flight of stairs. It is a new five-player dungeon for levels 15 to 20.
It is one of the nine dungeons new to WoW Forever, so it was not in the original game, and it is easy to walk past on the way into Undercity. Below we cover where the entrance is, what level to be, the quests for both factions and where they start, the bosses, and how each faction gets there. Facts are checked against Blizzard’s dungeon overview, its development notes and its November 6 hotfixes, as of November 7, three days after launch.
What the Ruins of Lordaeron Are
Blizzard places the dungeon “within the ruined city above the Undercity in Tirisfal Glades.” Its setup: the Forsaken are trying to reclaim the shattered remains of Lordaeron, still haunted by the Scourge, and reports of a necromancer gathering power there call adventurers in to help secure the city.
| Detail | Ruins of Lordaeron |
|---|---|
| Where | The ruined city above Undercity, Tirisfal Glades |
| Level range | 15 to 20 |
| Quest level | Every dungeon quest needs level 15 to start |
| Group size | Five players |
| Faction it suits | Horde (easy to reach from Undercity) |
Blizzard’s November 2 development notes set every Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon quest to a minimum of level 15 (“was a mix of 15 and 16”), and a November 6 hotfix brought the last one, Unending Torment, down to 15 as well.
Where the Entrance Is
- Get to the Ruins of Lordaeron in Tirisfal Glades. The ruined city sits just south of the zeppelin tower and the road from Brill.
- Walk through the front gate into the courtyard.
- Look to your left before you reach the keep. A flight of stairs climbs to the dungeon entrance.
- Walk through the instance portal at the top.
If you carry on into the keep instead, you end up at the elevators down to Undercity. That is where Horde groups usually meet, since Undercity is one elevator ride below the entrance.
Ruins of Lordaeron Quests
The quests split by faction. Horde quests start around Undercity and Silverpine Forest; the Alliance’s start inside the dungeon itself.
Horde quests:
| Quest | Where it starts |
|---|---|
| Light’s Justice | Morbin Lightbane, Royal Quarter, Undercity |
| The New Plague | Theodore Griffs, the Apothecarium, Undercity, after the Recipe for Death quests |
| The Wrath of Rath’mael | Deathguard Kristof, on the road between Brill and Undercity, after Rear Guard Patrol |
| A Frightened Request | The Sepulcher, Silverpine Forest |
| Unending Torment | The Abominable Head, which drops from The Baron inside |
| Crest of Lordaeron | A crest found inside the dungeon |
Alliance quests:
| Quest | Where it starts |
|---|---|
| Abominable Creatures | Captain Truman, just inside the entrance |
| Bloodied Insignia | Bloodied Insignias that drop from the undead inside, turned in at Stormwind |
| Remember That I Love You | A letter found inside the dungeon |
| Crest of Lordaeron | A crest found inside the dungeon |
Two of these are confirmed by name in Blizzard’s beta notes: A Frightened Request, which now sorts under the dungeon in your quest log, and the Bloodied Insignia item, which Blizzard fixed so you can no longer collect duplicate copies. The November 6 hotfix names Unending Torment and The Baron.
A few tips:
- Unending Torment is long. The Abominable Head starts a chain that sends you around Undercity’s Apothecarium and other quarters, so expect to finish it after the run.
- The Crest of Lordaeron moves. It can appear in one of several spots inside, so look around the towers and walls as you clear.
- Collect the Horde quests on the way. If you are coming from Silverpine Forest, stop at the Sepulcher; if you come by zeppelin, the Brill road and Undercity cover the rest.
The Bosses
The Ruins of Lordaeron have six bosses: Witherfang, a giant spider, then The Baron, Viktor the Vile, The Abandoned, Bjork, and Rath’mael at the end. The Baron drops the head for Unending Torment (Horde) and Abominable Creatures (Alliance), and Rath’mael is the target of The Wrath of Rath’mael.
How Each Faction Gets There
Horde. Undead start in Tirisfal Glades, a short ride away. Everyone else takes the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Tirisfal Glades; our guide to getting to Undercity from Orgrimmar covers the route, the walk in and the launch-week zeppelin trouble.
Alliance. Blizzard says Alliance groups “must venture into Horde territory.” The ship that links Menethil, Southshore and Auberdine stops at Southshore in Hillsbrad Foothills; from there, head west into Silverpine Forest and north into Tirisfal Glades. Both zones are Horde country with Horde guards, and on the PvP rulesets you are fair game, so travel as a group. Our guide to getting to Darnassus covers how the ships connect.
If you would rather stay closer to home, the Alliance’s own dungeon at a similar level is the Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge, and the Horde’s alternatives are Ragefire Chasm and Wailing Caverns.
How to Get a Group
WoW Forever has no automatic Dungeon Finder; the Group Finder lists players and groups, and everyone travels to the entrance. Our guide to whether there is a Dungeon Finder explains the listings. Every WoW Forever guide we have is on our World of Warcraft hub.
