Yes, you can grind in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and it is more generous about it than most entries in the series. There are four routes to experience, and the best one for safety is the inn auto-activities, which grant EXP and items passively while turns pass. The thing every method actually costs you is time.
The Four Routes
World map skirmishes. Enemies appear on the overworld, and specific spots trigger small tactical maps. These make up most overworld encounters and give both EXP and crafting materials, which pairs well with weapon repair.
Dungeons. Explored in real time with a four-unit squad, resolving into turn-based Clashes. Good for levels and for gear at the same time.
The Arena in Dagsion. Training raises Skill EXP and builds Support, at a cost in gold and Motivation. It is widely rated the most useful of the weekly actions.
Inn auto-activities. These generate EXP, gold and items passively as turns pass. No risk, no unit can die, and no tactical effort required. If you are going to do one thing, do this one.
Time Is the Real Cost
Every method above spends the same scarce resource. Moving on the world map consumes time, weekly actions reset each Sunday, and a chapter gives you a finite pool of turns. Grinding is not free, it is a trade against recruitment, supports, forging and exploration.
That is why the inn activities matter so much: they are the only route that generates progress from time that is passing anyway.
Boons Compound Across Runs
If you have played a route before, Boons purchased with the Notable Deeds currency include increases to EXP and weapon EXP gained, and they carry into later runs. On a second or third route, that turns earlier grinding into permanent efficiency. Our New Game Plus Boons guide covers what is worth buying.
There is also a built-in mercy for repeat routes: skipping Part 2 with your chosen hero still awards those units experience roughly equal to what they would have earned. You are not punished for not replaying content you have already seen.
Supports Come Along for the Ride
Because support level is shared across all four routes and never decreases, time spent in the Arena or at meals is never wasted, even if you restart a chapter. Our supports guide covers building them efficiently.
