Gears of War: E-Day is not on PS5, and Xbox has said it is not a timed exclusive, so no PlayStation version is planned. It is on Game Pass from day one, October 6, 2026, through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Below we cover every platform the game runs on, exactly what Xbox said about PlayStation, which Game Pass plans include it (and which do not), and how subscribers can start five days early. Where You Can Play Gears of War E-Day
Xbox’s gone gold announcement lists three storefronts, and earlier Xbox Wire posts add cloud streaming:
- Xbox Series X|S. No Xbox One version is listed for the native game. Two-player split-screen co-op is console only.
- Xbox on PC (the Xbox PC app and Microsoft Store). The game is Xbox Play Anywhere: one purchase on the Xbox store or the Xbox PC store covers both console and PC, with shared progress.
- Steam. A separate purchase that Play Anywhere does not cover. The Steam listing says the game is optimized for Steam Deck, Xbox Ally X and Xbox Ally handhelds, and supports optional account linking for roaming saves and cross-platform invites.
- Xbox Cloud Gaming. Xbox names cloud among the launch platforms, with monthly playtime limits set by your Game Pass plan.

Why There Is No PS5 Version
At the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, Xbox announced that E-Day and Clockwork Revolution would be Xbox console exclusives. The official Xbox Wire showcase recap puts it plainly: “These are not timed exclusives.” The same post says games already announced for multiplatform release will stick to that plan, which is why other Xbox titles still reach PlayStation while E-Day does not.
The announcement surprised a lot of players, because E-Day had looked multiplatform beforehand. Eurogamer reported a PS5 age rating and a PS5 logo in Xbox promotional material ahead of the showcase, and The Verge and Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources, that a PS5 version had been planned until a late decision. The Coalition’s creative director Matt Searcy told Eurogamer, “We never talked about it going to PS5,” and Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg rejected the late-decision account on X. Whatever the history, the official position is no PS5 release, timed or otherwise.
Which Game Pass Plans Include It
Xbox confirms E-Day joins Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch. Here is how every plan lines up, per Xbox’s Game Pass plan comparison:

Three details catch subscribers out:
- Premium has no E-Day date. Xbox’s one-year promise covers “select games,” and Xbox has not named a Premium date for E-Day.
- Online play on Xbox needs a plan. The store fine print says online campaign co-op, Horde Siege and Versus require “a Game Pass subscription that includes online multiplayer,” and The Coalition’s beta FAQ put the floor at Essential. Our co-op guide covers what that means for your squad.
- Cloud time is capped. Xbox lists 5, 10 and 15 hours of cloud playtime a month for Essential, Premium and Ultimate, and PC Game Pass includes no cloud streaming.
Both day-one plans unlock at the worldwide launch, 8am Pacific (15:00 UTC) on October 6. Our release time guide converts that to every time zone.
How Game Pass Members Can Play Early
Game Pass alone does not include early access. The five-day head start, from October 1 at 8am Pacific, belongs to the Premium Edition.
Subscribers can still get it. Xbox sells a Premium Edition Upgrade for $30, and its store listing says it “requires base game or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.” The upgrade adds:
- Up to 5 days of early access
- The Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack (campaign only)
- Five Seasonal Customization Packs, starting with the Emergence Pack at launch
- 1,000 Iron, the premium in-game currency

What PS5 Owners Can Do Instead
If PlayStation is your only console, you have three realistic options:
