Transport Fever 3: Whether It Is Coming to PS5, Xbox or Mac

Yes to all three. Transport Fever 3 launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Mac on September 29, 2026, the same day as Windows and Linux, per developer Urban Games and publisher Paradox Interactive.

Below we cover every confirmed platform, what each version costs, how the console and Mac versions differ from Windows, and which systems (Switch, PS4, Xbox One) have not been announced. This guide covers the launch release as the developer and store pages describe it before release day.

Every Platform at Launch

Urban Games’ release date announcement says the game “will launch simultaneously for PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and new also on GOG, as well as for PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S.” Here is how that breaks down:

Platform Where to buy Standard price Notes
PlayStation 5 PlayStation Store $59.99 PS5 only, no PS4 version
Xbox Series X|S Microsoft Store $59.99 Series X|S only, not on Game Pass
Windows PC Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG $49.99 Windows 10 (64-bit) or 11
Mac Steam, GOG $49.99 Apple silicon only
Linux Steam, GOG $49.99 Ubuntu 24.04 or later

The platform list grew over time. The May 2025 reveal named PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Urban Games confirmed Mac and Linux for day one in its First Look Episode 4 post in March 2026, and after the Paradox publishing deal in May, the studio told players that “Mac and Linux will continue to be available on day 1.” For the unlock time on each store, see our release time guide.

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Both console versions launch alongside PC, but they cost more: per Paradox’s press release, the Standard Edition is $59.99 (€59.99) on console against $49.99 on PC, and the Deluxe Edition is $74.99 against $64.99.

What the store pages and Urban Games have confirmed for consoles:

  • Current generation only. The PlayStation Store listing is PS5 only, and the Xbox listing is tagged “Optimized for Xbox Series X|S.” Neither store lists a PS4 or Xbox One version.
  • Single player. The PS5 listing shows 1 player, offline play enabled and Remote Play supported. The Xbox listing shows single player only.
  • Not on Game Pass. The Xbox listing shows no Game Pass inclusion as of September 28.
  • Mouse and keyboard work. Asked on the official site, Urban Games confirmed that “Mouse and Keyboard are also supported on consoles,” alongside the controller.
  • Mods are on console too. The in-game Mod Hub, built on mod.io, serves the same mods on every platform. Urban Games’ Dev Blog Episode 5 says new agreements with Sony and Microsoft mean brand logos no longer keep mods off consoles, and an optimized console version of each mod is generated automatically on upload.

One difference to know about: asked whether a PS5 or a Mac mini M4 would run the game better, Urban Games’ community manager said it is “likely” the Mac “will perform better as it conforms to the recommended specs,” and that the Mac owner would have “the broader range of map sizes available.” In other words, expect fewer map size options on console than on a strong computer. The studio has not published a console map size list.

Mac

The Mac version is real and native, but it has firm hardware limits. Per the official game page and Steam:

  • Apple silicon only. Intel Macs are not supported.
  • Minimum: Apple M2 Pro (Steam cites the 2023 14-inch MacBook Pro), 16 GB of memory, macOS Sequoia 15.7 or later, 90 GB on an SSD.
  • Recommended: Apple M4 Pro (Steam cites the 2024 Mac mini) with 24 GB of memory.

Steam and GOG both list a Mac version. We found no Mac App Store listing as of September 28, which matters if you own Transport Fever 2 there: Urban Games says the 10% loyalty discount only applies when you buy the new game on the same store and account as the old one.

Urban Games also says manual mod installation stays available on PC and Mac, and its community manager told players in July that a game “you started on macOS” can be continued on PlayStation. The studio has not detailed how saves move between platforms, so treat that as a stated goal until launch shows how it works.

Windows and Linux

Windows and Linux share the same hardware requirements on Steam: an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X with AVX2 support, 8 GB of RAM and a 4 GB graphics card (GTX 1060, RX 480 or Arc A380) at minimum, and an SSD with 90 GB free. Linux needs Ubuntu 24.04 or later. Windows players have three stores to choose from; Linux players should buy on Steam or GOG, since those are the stores we could confirm list a Linux version.

What Has Not Been Announced

  • Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. No Nintendo system appears in any official platform list.
  • PS4 and Xbox One. Neither store lists a last-generation version.
  • A physical console disc. Paradox’s store page says the Collector’s Edition “includes a digital copy of the game; no physical game disc is included,” and Urban Games confirmed that copy is the Steam version only.

Mods are one of the series’ big draws, and our Cities: Skylines mods list shows how much they add to a management game. Every Transport Fever 3 guide we publish is on the Transport Fever 3 hub.
