The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered went live on September 29, 2026, and CD Projekt Red’s launch announcement confirms the two expansions come with it: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are “available now to all owners of the game”, at no extra cost.
The Details
The Remaster is a free upgrade, not a separate purchase. CD Projekt Red calls it an update that “brings countless improvements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more”, and anyone who has bought The Witcher 3 in any version gets it on the same platform family.
Per the studio’s release map, it unlocked at the same moment everywhere, 10 AM GMT: on PC through Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store and Battle.net, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and in a native Nintendo Switch 2 version.
The two things to know before you load a save:
- Your skill points have been reset. Skills now sit in a tree with three ranks each, so every returning character has to be rebuilt.
- PC players should update their graphics drivers first. CD Projekt Red’s own patch notes flag it as “IMPORTANT”, alongside new support for path tracing, DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4 with frame generation.
The launch has drawn a crowd. SteamDB’s public tracking had The Witcher 3 at a peak of 117,766 concurrent players on Steam by mid-afternoon UTC on launch day, eleven years after the original release. Early player reports also describe missing textures and black artifacts on some AMD Radeon cards, especially the RX 9000 series. Later that day, AMD released its Adrenalin 26.9.2 driver and CD Projekt Red told AMD players seeing visual issues to install it before playing.
