Songs of the Past, The Witcher 3’s new paid expansion, is coming in 2027, but CD Projekt Red hasn’t announced an exact date or a price yet. It’s coming to PC (GOG, Steam, Epic and Battle.net), PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, and not to PS4, Xbox One or Switch 1.
Here is everything CD Projekt Red has confirmed, from its Songs of the Past page, the store listings and its support site.
Release Date
- 2027, with no specific date yet.
- First announced on May 27, 2026.
- Pre-orders aren’t open. CD Projekt Red’s buy page says you can pre-purchase “when it becomes available”, and the Steam, GOG and Xbox pages only offer wishlisting. Nintendo’s listing can’t be pre-ordered either.
Price
Not announced. None of the store listings show a price yet. Guesses that it will match Blood and Wine’s price come from other sites, not from CD Projekt Red, so wait for the official number.
Platforms
- PC: GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store and Battle.net.
- Consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.
- Not coming to: PS4, Xbox One and Switch 1. CDPR’s support article says it’s built on the new Remastered foundation, so it needs a current-gen version.
The Xbox listing notes it “requires a game (sold separately)”, so you need The Witcher 3 itself. If you’re on an old-gen copy, our guide to fixing the Remastered upgrade explains how to claim the current-gen version free.
What’s in Songs of the Past
- A new land: Letten, “an idyllic land” hiding “a long-dormant evil”. CD Projekt Red’s Marta Piwońska told Xbox Wire it’s Dandelion’s homeland, and Dandelion comes along.
- A new weapon for Geralt, “the chain”, plus unique mutagens.
- Dozens of new quests and points of interest, per the store listing.
- Co-development with Fool’s Theory.
When You Can Start It
You won’t need to finish the other expansions first. Karolina Kuzia-Rokosz of Fool’s Theory told VGC that “people will be able to start Songs of the Past immediately after finishing the main story. So, you do not have to finish the expansions.” She added that its world is “closer to Blood and Wine” in size than to Hearts of Stone, and that the story reflects whether you’ve finished Blood and Wine.
A Bonus for Battle.net Buyers
CD Projekt Red and Blizzard say buying Songs of the Past on Battle.net unlocks a Geralt skin for the Barbarian in Diablo IV.
Will Your PC Run It
Its PC requirements match the Remastered version’s, with 70 GB of storage listed. Our PC requirements guide has the full table.
