To qualify for FUT Champions in EA FC 27, you earn enough Champions Qualification Points (CQP), and for the first time you can earn them in both Division Rivals and Squad Battles. EA has also removed the old requirement to reach Division 6 in Rivals: a higher Division earns CQP faster, but your Division no longer decides whether you can qualify.
New accounts have one extra step, finishing three Foundations Objective groups to unlock Champions. Below we cover that unlock, how CQP works, what changed from FC 26, the 15-match Finals, and the Champions Token Store, all verified against EA’s official Launch Update Pitch Notes and EA Help for EA SPORTS FC 27.
Step One: Unlock Champions on a New Account
If you are new to FC, EA’s Graduated Access system locks both Champions and the Transfer Market until you complete specific Objective groups. Per EA Help:
- Go to Ultimate Team > Objectives.
- Complete The Journey Begins to unlock First Team Dreams.
- Complete First Team Dreams to unlock Rising Through the Ranks.
- Complete Rising Through the Ranks.
Access then arrives within 48 hours on PC or 24 hours on other platforms, provided you have also met the other Champions entry requirements, including your Rivals progression and Champions Qualification Points. Eligible returning players in good standing skip these steps entirely.
Step Two: Earn Champions Qualification Points
CQP is the qualification currency, and FC 27 gives you three ways to earn it:
- Division Rivals. Rivals matches earn CQP, and higher Divisions earn it faster. Returning Bounties also appear more often and can speed up your Rivals progress.
- Squad Battles. New this year: PvE players can work toward Champions entirely against AI squads, since Squad Battles now award CQP.
- Champions itself. Champions rewards now include more CQP, which makes it easier to qualify again after a run.
EA’s Pitch Notes do not publish the exact CQP needed per entry, only that earning enough qualifies you. The Division 6 gate is gone, so a player sitting in a lower Division can still reach Champions by grinding CQP.

The Champions Finals
The 15-match Champions Finals format returns in FC 27, with higher FUT Coin rewards than in FC 26, and EA’s launch notes promise more CQP within Champions rewards so you can work toward the next qualification sooner. Because every match matters, this is where manual defending counts most; EA removed AI auto-tackles in competitive play this year.
Champions Tokens and the Token Store
Champions Tokens, first introduced in FC 26’s summer update, return. They let you pick your own rewards from the Champions Token Store, which EA says includes:
- Team of the Week players in the exclusive red item design
- Evolutions
- Vanity rewards such as Celebrations
The exact prices and stock vary over the season, so check the store after each Finals.
Tips for Qualifying Faster
- Pick your lane. If PvP stresses you out, Squad Battles now reaches Champions on its own. If you are strong online, climb Rivals Divisions for faster CQP.
- Play Squad Battles on the difficulty you can win. EA Help says Battle Points depend on result and difficulty, and a match you quit early or skip by refreshing earns none.
