For most players, the standard edition of Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered ($39.99) is the one to buy. The Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99) adds cosmetics, concept art and a handful of early boosts, but no extra stages, officers or story: every battle and all 42 officers are in the standard game. Buy Deluxe only if you want the 42 retro costumes based on the PS2 originals.
Here is exactly what each edition of DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered contains, per Koei Tecmo’s store listings, and how to decide.
The Editions and Prices
| Edition | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $39.99 | The full game: Dynasty Warriors 3 and Xtreme Legends, every officer, every mode |
| Digital Deluxe Edition | $69.99 | The full game plus the bonus content below |
| Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade (Steam) | $32.99 | Only the bonus content, for people who already own the standard game |
Those prices match across the Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo stores at launch. The game is already the “Complete Edition”: Koei Tecmo uses that name because both the original game and its Xtreme Legends expansion are included in every version.
Everything in the Digital Deluxe Edition
Per the Steam store page and Koei Tecmo’s launch press release:
- Dynasty Warriors 3 Retro Costumes (42 total). A costume for every officer, based on the original Dynasty Warriors 3. Players describe them as high-resolution versions of the PS2 character models. You switch them on the character select screen.
- Wind Scroll x1 and Tiger Amulet x1. Each adds +10, to attack range and Attack respectively.
- Six Secret Teachings x1. An item that increases officer Merit gain, so officers level up faster.
- 42 weapons, one for every officer. Koei Tecmo says they have “useful abilities” and can also be used as Weapon Fusion materials.
- Officer Concept Art Collection. Original Dynasty Warriors 3 concept art with producer comments, viewed in the in-game Database.
The Fine Print
Koei Tecmo’s store notes are worth reading before you pay:
- The items can be earned in the game. “Wind Scrolls, Tiger Amulets, and Six Secret Teachings may all be obtained through playing the game.” Koei Tecmo adds that “you may not receive new effects based on when you acquire them,” meaning a Deluxe copy may stop being an upgrade once you find better ones yourself.
- The concept art is in-game only. It cannot be downloaded as a PDF or viewed outside the game, and the producer comments are in Japanese only.
- Do not double-buy. The standard game, the Deluxe Edition and the Upgrade are separate products, and Koei Tecmo warns that the Deluxe content is included in more than one of them.
Steam forum players were blunt about the bonus gear: one called the items and weapons “useless” after a few hours, since better drops arrive quickly. That matches how the original game worked, where a +10 Tiger Amulet is an early boost and well below what dedicated farming produces.
The Pre-Order Bonus
Everyone who pre-ordered before September 30, 2026 received the Retro-Style Red Hare Saddle, per Koei Tecmo. It is a retro-styled version of the Red Hare Saddle; players report the horse it gives you uses a deliberately low-poly, PS2-style model. Koei Tecmo noted that pre-order bonuses “may become available for purchase or for free as add-on content” later. The regular Red Hare Saddle can still be earned in the game, as in the original, by defeating Lu Bu at Hulao Gate.
Which Edition Should You Buy?
- Buy the standard edition if you want the game. Nothing that affects the story, stages or roster is locked behind Deluxe.
- Buy the Digital Deluxe Edition if you played the PS2 original and want the retro costumes, or you want the concept art collection.
- Buy the Upgrade later if you are unsure. It costs a little more than the gap between editions, but it means you can start with the standard game and decide after a few hours.
- Try the free demo first. It covers the Battle of Hulao Gate with six officers on every platform. Demo saves do not carry over.
There is no Western physical edition announced; our platform guide covers the boxed versions released in Asia.
