To get a job in Inzoi, open your Zoi’s smartphone with P, go into the Careers app, pick a career from the list for your city and apply; most jobs start on the next scheduled shift, while the careers added in April 2026 first send you to an interview you have to pass. Since that April update your Zoi can also hold a school place, a career and a business at once, take paid or sick leave from the computer, and earn a freelance license instead of a salaried post. Almost everything below changed with the v0.8.0 update on April 29, 2026, which the developer describes as the career overhaul. If you learned the job system in 2025, treat it as a different game.
Applying through the Careers app
Press P (or click the phone icon) to open the smartphone, then open the Careers app. Each city has its own list of employers: the original careers in Dowon and Bliss Bay include the Adam Entertainment talent agency, a law firm with a Junior Lawyer track, and the amusement park’s field crew, and Cahaya has its own set including the Travel Agent career added in April 2026. Select a career, read the role and schedule, and apply.
For the pre-2026 careers, applying is the whole process: your Zoi is hired and the first shift goes on the schedule. For the five careers added in April 2026 in Dowon and Bliss Bay (Researcher, IT Developer, Architect, Music Producer and Journalist) plus Cahaya’s Travel Agent, your Zoi must apply for an interview, attend it as a calendar event, and impress the interviewer before work begins. Per the v0.8.0 notes, interviews appear on the calendar with their own marking so you do not miss them. School, career, business and freelance at once
Before April 2026 a Zoi held one occupation. Now school, career and business are separate categories, and a single Zoi can hold all three as long as the schedules do not overlap. When they clash, the game prioritises school first, career second, business last. The Zoi card shows which of the four occupation types (school, career, business or freelance) the Zoi is currently in.
Business means owning or working at a player-run shop, restaurant or salon, a system added in December 2025 and expanded since. Freelance is different again and gets its own section below.
Freelance work and licenses
If you would rather not clock in, the April 2026 update added freelance jobs in four lines: Delivery (carry a client’s item to its recipient), Creative (write, compose, program or produce media to order), Publishing (release your own work and earn commission on how it performs), and Sell Online (sell created work from the computer for a lower price than a client or publisher would pay).
To start, use a computer to obtain a freelance license. The license has a grade that rises with your reputation in that line of work and your count of completed tasks, and higher grades unlock harder, better-paid jobs. Pay, leave, evaluations and being fired
Salary is paid daily, not weekly. Per the v0.8.0 notes, your Zoi can register paid leave, sick leave and remote work days from the computer, with the number of leave days set by job position. Employers occasionally grant company-wide holidays and occasionally assign overtime.
Showing up late marks your Zoi tardy or absent and hurts their evaluation, and a Zoi whose performance stays low can be fired. Team projects run from day one to day four with progress tracked in a phone app and the mission panel, and your contribution at the end sets your grade and reward. Career missions now share a window with social event missions, so check that panel during a shift for the tasks that move your evaluation. Since December 2025, acquaintances also text your Zoi about job news. If those messages never arrive on an older save, the developer’s own fix is to quit and reapply for the same job.
Quitting, retiring and other ways to earn
Quit from the Careers app whenever you like. Anyone who is fired, leaves or retires receives severance pay, and once your Zoi has put in enough time at a company they can announce retirement, which triggers a retirement party event and makes them eligible for pension payments.

Loading a save from before April 2026 converts your Zoi’s old career data to the new system automatically, so you keep your position.
