Marvel’s Wolverine: All Collectible Types Explained

Marvel’s Wolverine has 102 collectibles across three types, and none of them are missable. Two of the three are straightforward power upgrades rather than lore trinkets, which makes collecting them worth doing rather than merely completionist.

The Three Types

68 Material Crates. Each gives 50 Materials, which are spent crafting suits. Suits cost roughly 75 to 300 Materials each, and crafting them raises Logan’s maximum health, so these are a direct survivability upgrade.

20 Whisky Bottles. These raise your Adaptation Level, which is what lets you equip more passive perks. Combat XP does nothing for Adaptations, so bottles are the only route alongside Nightmare Doors. Our upgrades guide explains why that distinction matters.

14 Nightmare Doors. These grant Adaptation progress and unlock Nightmare Trials and memories. They are also the game’s main side content rather than a simple pickup.

Nightmare Doors Are the Real Side Content

Look for purple, tree-like roots marking a door. Inside are three kinds of challenge:

  • Traversal and time trials
  • Combat trials
  • Gauntlet wave survival against point thresholds

Trials are graded with medals, and the medal you earn changes the colour of the memory carving unlocked back in the Nightmare Cabin. Completing all of the doors unlocks a final memory that works as a story epilogue.

There is a further reward worth knowing about: completing every Nightmare Door trial to a sufficient standard unlocks a second, secret post-credits scene. The first post-credits scene plays for everyone; this one does not. Our post-game guide covers both.

Note that sources disagree slightly on whether there are 14 or 15 doors, so count from your own in-game tracker rather than trusting any single figure, this one included.

Nothing Is Missable

You can play the story without detouring and clean up afterwards. Chapter Select unlocks after you find your second Nightmare Door, reached from the Title Screen or any Nightmare Door by going to the Nightmare Cabin and interacting with the bed.

The pause menu and Chapter Select both track collectibles per chapter, showing completion percentages, so cleanup is a checklist rather than a search. Roughly 20 of the game’s 30 missions contain collectibles, spread across Telambang, Canada, Madripoor and Japan.

Since there is no fast travel in this game, Chapter Select is the only way back into a completed area, and it is the intended one.
