Minecraft Dungeons II has five announced capes: the Hero Cape (play both Dungeons games on one Microsoft account), the Twisted Cape (the pre-order bonus), the Soul Cape (the Deluxe Edition), the Corrupted Creeper Cape (a stream-watching quest) and a Special Cape that Mojang has not revealed yet. Only the Hero Cape and the Twisted Cape also unlock in Minecraft: Java and Bedrock Edition.
Below we cover how to unlock each one, which windows have closed, the deadline you can still make, and how to wear the crossover capes in Minecraft. This guide covers the launch version (September 29, 2026); the unlock rules are the same on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch and Switch 2. Everything is verified against Mojang’s capes and promos article and the official store listings.

The Hero Cape: Play Both Dungeons Games
The Hero Cape is the one almost everyone can still earn. Mojang’s steps:
- Play the original Minecraft Dungeons while signed in to your Microsoft account.
- Log into Minecraft Dungeons II with that same account before December 31, 2026.
- Once the cape shows as equippable in Dungeons II, log into Minecraft: Java Edition, Bedrock Edition or both on the same account to unlock it there too.
Mojang’s terms say “Playing the games on Game Pass qualifies,” so Game Pass members do not need to buy either game. You need an internet connection so the unlock can be confirmed, and the terms warn that “processing time and delays may apply.”
The account rule applies, in Mojang’s words, “whether you play solo on your own device or join a friend’s couch co-op session,” so on a shared console each player should sign in with their own account. Our co-op guide explains how couch sessions and guest players work.
The Twisted Cape: The Pre-Order Bonus
The Twisted Cape came in the pre-order Hero Pack, alongside the Twisted Chicken pet and two hero skins (Mojang says Steve and Alex are “outfitted for the rifts ahead”). Mojang’s offer terms ran pre-orders from June 6, 2026 at 12 p.m. PDT until September 28, 2026 at 12 p.m. PDT.
If you pre-ordered:
- After launch, sign in to Minecraft Dungeons II with your Microsoft account and confirm the pre-order items arrived.
- Log into Minecraft: Bedrock Edition, Java Edition or both on the same account to collect the Twisted Cape there.
- Physical pre-orders include a code in the box. Per Mojang, redeem it at xbox.com/redeem on Xbox, on the Nintendo eShop redeem page on Switch, or on PlayStation Store by selecting your profile and then Redeem Code, then follow the two steps above.
Missed the window? As of this writing, the Xbox Store listings for both the standard edition and the Deluxe Edition still show the Hero Pack under “Add-ons included.” Mojang’s terms, however, say the offer ended September 28, so check that list on your platform’s store before buying for the cape.
The Soul Cape: Deluxe Edition
The Soul Cape comes with the Deluxe Edition, $49.99 in the US on the Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo stores. The stores package it as the “Soul Pack,” with the Blub pet and four hero skins that Mojang describes as “dark-golden variations of Valorie, Kellen, Ren, and Flores,” the sequel’s four heroes. The Deluxe Edition also includes DLC 1 and 2 when they release.
- Game Pass covers the standard game only. The Xbox Store lists the Soul Pack as part of the Deluxe Edition, so look for an upgrade option before buying the game twice.
- It stays in Dungeons II for now. Mojang names only the Hero and Twisted capes as coming to Minecraft.
The Corrupted Creeper Cape: The Stream Quest
This one has closed. Mojang ran a watch-time quest from September 21 at 12:00 p.m. PST to September 26 at 11:59 p.m. PST: watch a Minecraft livestream for at least three minutes on TikTok (on a stream with Game Rewards enabled), or any live stream in Twitch’s Minecraft category for at least 15 minutes.
If you completed it, check your Twitch inventory or TikTok notifications for the reward, then redeem the cape inside Minecraft Dungeons II. Per the community wiki, the codes stay valid until December 31, 2027, but there is no reason to wait.
The Special Cape: Still a Mystery
Mojang lists a fifth “Special Cape” with no unlock method yet, only a request to “stay tuned and glued to your screens for more information.” We will update this guide when it is revealed.

How to Wear the Capes in Minecraft
Once the Hero Cape or Twisted Cape unlocks, it works like any official Minecraft cape:
- Java Edition: capes are tied to your Minecraft profile; Mojang’s site has a “Change Java Skins and Capes” page under your profile.
- Bedrock Edition: equip it from the Dressing Room, per Mojang’s help center.
