To have a baby in Inzoi, pick the Make a Baby option from the Romance menu between two Zois in a romantic relationship, confirm the pregnancy with a test, and wait a few in-game days for the Give Birth prompt. Marriage is no longer required, and adoption, a paid medical procedure and a Create a Zoi genetics tool now give households that cannot conceive the same result. Below we cover each route, the requirements, what happens during the pregnancy, and what changed since the spring 2025 build, all verified against official patch notes.
Every Way to Add a Baby on the Current Build
When Inzoi launched into Early Access, only married, mixed-sex couples could conceive, and adoption was a promise. The v0.2.0 update in June 2025 changed all of that. Per the developer, the current options are:
- Make a Baby: the romance interaction that starts a pregnancy. Since v0.2.0, “Zois can now give birth without getting married.”
- Adopt a Child: opened from a computer or laptop, and since the v0.3.0 update also from the smartphone. The patch notes say anybody who meets the age and property requirements can adopt.
- Create a Child with Medical Help: a computer or laptop interaction that costs 1,000 Mew. The child inherits your Zoi’s genetic traits, and you can partner with another Zoi so the child reflects both of them. This is the route for couples who cannot conceive through Make a Baby.
- Create a Zoi genetics: the v0.10.0 update in September 2026 added baby age groups to Create a Zoi and a genetics system that builds an offspring from one or both parents. After a household exists, the notes say the same feature is reachable from the Zoi Card.
Gender identity and romantic attraction settings can also be changed at any time since v0.2.0.
Starting a Pregnancy
The requirements are simpler than they were in 2025:
- A romantic relationship: the two Zois need to be far enough along the romance track for the option to appear. Our guide on how to kiss in Inzoi covers building that relationship.
- Room in the household: the developer’s launch AMA confirmed that pregnancy attempts fail when the household is full, and an April 2025 hotfix specifically corrected attempts in seven-member households. Early player reports put the cap at eight Zois.
- The right pairing for the biological route: Make a Baby still produces a pregnancy only between a Zoi who can carry and a Zoi who can father a child. Every other pairing uses adoption, medical help or the genetics screen.
Select the partner, open the Romance interactions and choose Make a Baby (the option the 2025 guides called “Suggest Having a Baby”). If the partner agrees, a short scene plays. Afterwards a red exclamation mark appears above the expecting Zoi’s portrait: click it to take the pregnancy test. A positive result starts the pregnancy.
During the Pregnancy
Early player reports have consistently described the pregnancy as lasting three in-game days, split into early, middle and late stages, with the belly growing each day. Since the v0.7.0 update you no longer have to count: the new 28-day calendar shows the due date for any pregnant Zoi.
Two additions from the v0.8.0 update in April 2026 fill out the wait:
- Hospital ultrasound: a pregnant Zoi can visit the hospital to get an ultrasound, check the baby’s gender and check its overall health.
- Gender reveal: a gender reveal social event can be scheduled on the calendar alongside other events.
Appearance editing for a pregnant Zoi stays locked until after the birth, as it did in 2025.
Giving Birth and the First Days
When the due date arrives, a notification offers the Give Birth interaction. Click it and a short hospital scene plays, after which the newborn appears in a crib at home and you are asked to name the baby. If the prompt does not appear, check the interaction queue: the v0.1.4 hotfix fixed Give Birth stalling when the queue was full, and later hotfixes (v0.2.5, v0.3.5, v0.5.3) fixed saves where a pregnant Zoi could not give birth at all, so a stuck pregnancy on the current build is worth a bug report.
Newborn care has grown since launch, per the patch notes: v0.2.0 added Laugh, Cry and Change Diaper interactions; v0.7.0 let you customize baby Zois in Edit Appearance and gave newborns teeth that grow in; v0.8.0 added puddles to clean and a parent who runs over when a baby falls; and the v0.9.0 update added baby traits that shape the traits a Zoi inherits later.
Babies also age on their birthdays now, not silently at midnight: since v0.7.0 a Zoi advances after blowing out candles at a birthday party or spending the birthday alone. To keep the newborn stage longer, see how to stop aging in Inzoi. Use how to switch between Zois to jump to a parent when the baby needs feeding, save your game before the birth, and find the rest of our coverage on the Inzoi guides hub.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Zois have to be married to have a baby in Inzoi? Not any more. The v0.2.0 update added non-marital birth, so any two Zois in a romantic relationship can use Make a Baby.
Can same-sex couples have a baby? Yes, through Adopt a Child on a computer or phone, or through Create a Child with Medical Help, which lets two Zois combine their genetic traits for 1,000 Mew. The v0.10.0 genetics screen in Create a Zoi is a third option.
How long is a pregnancy? Early player reports say three in-game days. On the current build the calendar shows the exact due date, so you do not need to count.
Can I choose the baby’s gender? The hospital ultrasound added in v0.8.0 reveals the gender before birth, but the patch notes do not describe a way to choose it for a natural pregnancy.
Why will my Zoi not give birth? Check that the Give Birth interaction is not stuck behind a full queue. Several hotfixes since 2025 addressed pregnancies that never ended, so if it happens on the current build, report it through the official bug reports page.
