Inzoi: How to Change Outfits and Get Clothes

To change outfits in Inzoi, click your Zoi and pick the change clothes option, or click a wardrobe, or hit the Edit Appearance button on the HUD to open the full editor. Which route you use depends on whether you want to swap between saved looks in a second or build a new one, and since the April 2026 update those saved looks include hair, makeup and skin as well as clothing. Below we cover all three routes, how the rebuilt automatic outfit system decides what your Zoi wears, and every source of new clothes in the current build.

Three Ways to Change Clothes

  • From the Zoi. Left-click the Zoi you control and choose the outfit option from their self-interactions. This swaps between the looks already saved for that Zoi, one per situation category (everyday, sleepwear, workout, swimwear, formal and so on). The developer’s August 2026 post confirms you “will still be able to manually change a Zoi’s clothes through wardrobes or the Zoi menu.”
  • From a wardrobe. Click any wardrobe or closet in the house. This is also where sleepwear changes happen automatically: v0.9.0 moved the pajama change to the closet nearest the bed, so a bedroom without one will send your Zoi wandering.
  • From Edit Appearance. The v0.4.0 update put an Edit Appearance button on the HUD. It opens the Create a Zoi editor (the same one mirrors open) where you can rebuild any outfit piece by piece, recolour it, and save presets. Hair lives here too; see how to change hair in Inzoi.

Inzoi is mouse-driven on PC and Mac; there is no console build yet, so no controller mapping applies.

How Situational Looks Work

Every Zoi has a set of looks keyed to situations. The v0.8.0 patch notes (April 2026) expanded the system:

  • Situational looks now cover hairstyles, makeup and skin settings, not just clothes.
  • You can save up to 5 looks plus 1 signature look per situation. If more than one preset is saved, v0.9.0 picks one at random when the Zoi changes automatically.
  • Automatic changes can be switched off per Zoi in Create a Zoi through the Use Situational Looks setting.

The developer then rebuilt the rules for when Zois change automatically, described in detail in an August 7, 2026 development post. The logic: a Zoi wakes in sleepwear, changes into everyday clothes after their morning shower, switches to workout clothes on entering a gym lot and back on leaving, switches to swimwear at a pool or beach and stays in it until they leave the lot, and goes back to sleepwear at bedtime. The everyday outfit is picked by temperature, with everyday, summer and winter clothes treated as one group. Exercising at home does not trigger a change. A Zoi under your direct control only changes when they actually start swimming or exercising, not just by walking across a beach.

The post says this ships as an Experimental Feature, toggled under Settings and Experimental Features, with the per-Zoi setting always taking priority. The v0.10.0 patch notes from September 3 do not list it by name, so check your Settings menu; if the toggle is absent, the older per-interaction rules still apply. Two older rules do apply regardless: since v0.7.0 Zois put on a gown after a shower or bath, and umbrellas are separate from outfits (see how to get and use umbrellas in Inzoi).

Where New Clothes Come From

The 2025 version of this guide sent you to a shopping district to buy clothes with in-game money. That was never how it worked: the Create a Zoi catalog is free, and purchasable clothing only arrived with the clothing store business in June 2026. Current sources:

  • The Create a Zoi catalog. Open Edit Appearance and browse. Every seasonal drop lands here: 56 summer items in v0.3.0, 100 Halloween items in v0.4.0 (the Halloween set is now available year-round), 62 winter outfits in v0.5.0, Lunar New Year outfits in v0.6.0, and party dresses and high heels in 2026.
  • My Wardrobe. Since v0.3.0, outfits and accessories obtained during gameplay (including jewellery you craft) are saved to the My Wardrobe category in the editor.
  • Clothing stores. v0.9.0 added the clothing store as a business type. Owners dress mannequins with outfit combinations and sell them to visiting Zois, and seven outfit items are exclusive to clothing stores. Our guide on how to buy things in Inzoi covers paying for them with Mew.

Outfits From Businesses, the Community and Mods

  • School mannequins. As of v0.10.0, students can set their school uniform to any outfit by interacting with the mannequins in the school building; see how to go to school in Inzoi.
  • The CONNECT store and Canvas. The CONNECT clothing store in the game’s lobby has offered free outfits (v0.6.0 added a batch), and Canvas hosts outfit presets other players upload, with search and filters added in v0.9.0.
  • Mods. The ModKit supports custom outfits, distributed through CurseForge. Mods are disabled automatically after each patch and have to be re-enabled.

Everything else about daily life is on the Inzoi guides hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Zoi keep changing clothes on their own? Situational looks are switching automatically. Turn off Use Situational Looks for that Zoi in Create a Zoi, or disable the experimental automatic outfit change setting if your build has it.

Do clothes cost money in Inzoi? The Create a Zoi catalog is free. Money only enters the picture at clothing store businesses, which sell store-exclusive items.

Where does my Zoi change into pajamas? At the closet nearest the bed, since v0.9.0. Put a wardrobe in the bedroom.

Can I save more than one outfit per situation? Yes, up to five looks plus a signature look per situation since v0.8.0, and the game picks one at random when it changes your Zoi automatically.

Can Zois wear a top over a swimsuit? The developer listed “wearing a swimsuit set and a top at the same time” on the 2026 roadmap. We have not seen it confirmed in patch notes yet.
