Silent Hill: Townfall is split into 6 Parts containing 17 chapters, numbered straight through from Chapter 1 to Chapter 17. PowerPyx’s walkthrough and Into Indie Games’ walkthrough both use this structure, and GameRant and TheGamer use the same Part names. There is no chapter select, so once a chapter is behind you, the only way back is an older save or a new playthrough.
The top half of this guide is spoiler-free. The full list of Part and chapter names sits below a clear warning, because several of them hint at story turns.
How the Structure Works
Parts are the big story blocks; chapters are the smaller steps inside them. A new Part begins with a title card, and walkthroughs report that you do not always play as Simon. The Part names themselves tell you when the viewpoint changes, which is part of why we keep them below the spoiler line.
Chapters vary a lot in length. Walkthroughs show some chapters as short transitions, while others, such as the estate chapter in Part 4, pack in a dozen or more puzzles and locker codes. That is why “how many chapters” is a poor guide to how much game is left: a chapter count tells you where you are in the story, not how long the rest will take.
For total run times, see how long to beat Townfall. The developers’ own speedrun record, posted in an official Steam tips thread, is 1:32:42, which shows how much of a first run is exploration and puzzle-solving.
Is There Chapter Select?
No. PowerPyx confirms there is no chapter select and no free roam after the credits, and you cannot backtrack to earlier areas. This matters for three reasons:
- Collectibles are effectively missable within a run. Postcards, documents, phone numbers and CRTV signals left behind stay behind until your next playthrough, although their trophy progress carries across runs.
- Keep several manual saves. PowerPyx reports 1 autosave slot and 20 manual slots, and you save by dialing 100 on any working phone. Our saving guide explains how, plus the trophy that punishes saving.
- New Game Plus restarts at Chapter 1. Our New Game Plus guide covers what changes on a second run.
What Changes Between Parts
Without naming anything, a few things are worth knowing:
- Areas lock behind you. TheGamer notes that in the hospital Part, rooms close off as you progress, and the estate Part has points of no return.
- The ending is built across all six Parts. The game tracks what you discover and how many enemies you kill for the whole run; our endings guide explains the system without spoilers.
Full Part and Chapter List
Spoiler warning: the list below names every Part and chapter. Some names reveal who you play as and where the story goes. Stop here if you want to go in blind.
| Part | Chapters |
|---|---|
| Part 1: Arrival | 1. Cold Open, 2. Escape, 3. A Connection, 4. Searching for Zoe |
| Part 2: Zoe | 5. Zoe: Rounds, 6. Journey to Medical |
| Part 3: The Patient | 7. Zoe: The Patient, 8. Many Into One |
| Part 4: Clara Woods | 9. Begin Again, 10. Missing Parts, 11. Inside CEG HQ |
| Part 5: Richard | 12. Richard: Getting Inside, 13. Richard: Another Attempt |
| Part 6: Simon | 14. Fix This, 15. Trying Again, 16. Eraser, 17. Returning |
The Part names match across PowerPyx, GameRant and TheGamer, with one exception: TheGamer labels Part 1 “Simon” rather than “Arrival.” The individual chapter names come from PowerPyx’s walkthrough, and even PowerPyx calls Chapter 10 “Missing Parts” in one guide and “Missing Pieces” in another, so treat the exact chapter wording as a close guide rather than gospel.
A few landmarks for orientation, taken from walkthroughs:
- Chapter 6 is where Simon gets the Pistol; our weapons guide has the details.
- Chapter 10 holds most of the Clara Woods locker codes, all listed in our codes guide.
- Chapter 16 is the final boss, and Chapter 17 is a short epilogue. One document, the Crew Patch, is only collectible there, per PowerPyx.
